Here at Kane’s conversions we also carry out crew cab van conversions. We have outlined the process below.

Windows

We cut out the metal panel using a template. The inner edge is then fitted with surround rubber to give a neat look. The glass is then prepped and bonded to the outside of the metal frame. The glass is then held in place use masking tape for a few hours until the sealer is dried.

Bulkhead

A Bulkhead is not necessary if you have 4 Tie-down hooks in the cargo area. It is, however, a much safer option in the event of a crash. In the construction of a Crew Cab van, the bulkhead is generally removed from behind the front row of seats. A new Bulkhead or frame is then constructed. This is generally positioned in the centre of the cargo area or to the rear of the side loading door, The position is usually determined by the cargo length required, However, to qualify as a Crew Cab Van Conversions the cargo area must be at least 30% of the Wheelbase and be 600mm high.

Seats 

There are a number of seating options for each vehicle. This depends on the requirements of the customer and the size of the van. The seats can be permanently bolted to the floor of the vehicle or they can be detachable. The permanent seats are bolted to the floor with 2mm pieces of steel placed on the underside of the van to strengthen the floor. This gives a stronger safer fit. The detachable seats generally sit on a raised platform or steel frame. This means that we can extend the length of the cargo area under the Bulkhead, as the cargo in the rear can fit under the seats. It also gives you the option of removing the seats entirely thus creating more cargo area.

Floor & Finishing

The floor of the van may need to be ply lined and then felted or carpeted. The Bulkhead and inside panels will be covered with an Auto fabric. The roof may also have to be covered and fitted with a light, depending on the make and model of the van.

All our work is certified by a qualified in-house engineer and all necessary paperwork is provided for all our crew cab van conversions.
